"Located in the most dynamic region of Turkey, Bandirma is planned to perform as the major gateway of the growing Turkish industrial export after the envisioned new port. It is foreseen that this regional transformation will catalyze the desired metamorphosis of the spatial quality for the city of Bandirma. The project site, in this regard, suggests a strong opportunity to provide a new and alternative open public space within the dense fabric of the city through the future post-industrial transformation of the region.

Jury’s main expectations from the competitors, in this framework, is to design an open milieu for generating research and development, experiencing and experimenting space and design, sharing and transferring the universal design knowledge and conception through direct involvement of the public. The existing architectural heritage and the unique characteristics of the natural landscape within the site is to be a valuable ground for conceiving a vital environment for design and research."

The Park is located in a small distance from the city centre, Bandirma. After the reconstruction, the park should become a favorite place of citizens and conducting mass cultural events. Each day in the park will come the students of the Institute of Design, visitors of the Park and various cultural events held in its territory.

Entire Park joined pedestrian route that ascends the serpentine on the slope of the hill, and lead up park visitors to the top. A pedestrian route is designed for maximum ease his passage, to Park visitors of different ages had the opportunity a easy stroll through the entire length of the pedestrian route of the Bandirma Park. This is shown in the 3D visualization.

Along the pedestrian route are various sites of cultural and recreational destination that fit perfectly in the surrounding landscape (trade pavilions, exhibition space, places for rest). Along the route provided the sun canopies for relaxation. A pedestrian route is looped, the highest point is the northernmost point of the Park, offering beautiful views of the entire Park. Provided trade pavilions of different sizes, organically arranged on the hillside in terraces with green roofs (there are cafes and restaurants). The terraces system of trade pavilions combined with a winding pedestrian route. Stipulated the possibility of entrance of transport for servicing the shopping pavilions.

Five-star hotel and Congress hall located on the highest point of the site. The entrance to it is from the North-West of the existing road. The entrance to the four-star hotel and the building of the Institute of Design, will be carried out according to the designed route through the North-East boundary of the site. See 3D visualizations for details. The direction of the primary pedestrian flow comes from the centre of town and train station.

Institute of design is located in an area of historic buildings that will be integrated into the modern design of the building of the Institute. On the East side from the Institute of Design, is located a four-star hotel. To the Institute of design and a four-star hotel is a direct path from the main entrance to the Bandirma Park. This path is the shortest, but has a large elevation change. See 3D visualizations for details.

The large number of different routes of approach and entrance to all sites allows to distinguish between public and private areas depending on the need. Along the route provided the location of small architectural forms with charging stations for electric bikes and gadgets of a visitors to the Park, a free Wi-Fi access points. For night lighting of the Park provides for the use of automatic systems of energy-saving lamps used to power solar energy. Also provides automatic irrigation system for the lawns and trees planted in the Park. The designed system of cycle paths connects all Park facilities, making the Bicycle the most convenient means of transportation in the Park for its guests and students attending the Institute of Design is located within the Park.
